Volunteer Application

Adult
Volunteer Program: The first
step to become a Happy Tails volunteer is to review our
New Volunteer Packet. The next step is to attend a new
volunteer orientation meeting to
learn about Happy Tails, its policies and procedures,
and how it operates. Plan to bring your completed application
with you
to this training session. During Orientation, you will
find out more about our organization, and we will review
your application to
determine how you can best assist us.
Happy Tails holds New Volunteer
Orientation sessions
at our Adoption Center located at 721
56th Street (in the Elvas Center at the corner
of 56th and H Streets (Map),
in east Sacramento
on the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 PM. An
Orientation session lasts about three hours, depending
on the attendance. It
will
give you an overview of Happy Tails and our goals. Orientation
is also offered on the first Sunday of every month at 1:00 p.m. at our Adopt-A-Pet Center.
Junior Volunteer Program: We
also offer opportunities to help the animals if you want to
volunteer and you are between ages 12 to 17. You can organize
community donation drives for
pet food, toys, towels and
other needed supplies. You can also volunteer to work with
our adoptable animals at the Center or another adoption site
and possibly earn community service credit to meet your school's
requirements (please note these shifts fill up very quickly
and therefore we cannot guarantee their availability). To get
started, you and your
parent or guardian are welcome to attend a New Volunteer Orientation
session to learn more about Happy Tails and to complete a Junior
Program Application. You must RSVP in advance
for either Orientation
session (see information below). After you attend a session
and submit a Junior Program Application, you will be contacted
by our Junior Program
Coordinator within two to three weeks.
Instructions for Downloading Application

Adults Program: You can
download our New
Volunteer Application Packet. (You will need Adobe Acrobat
Reader. If you do not have it, click on the icon below
and it will be installed on your computer at
no charge). Once you
print the form, fill it out and bring it with
you to the New
Volunteer Orientation. If you cannot download
or print this
packet, one will be provided to you during New
Volunteer Orientation.
Juniors Program: Potential junior
volunteers and their parent or guardian may
complete a special Junior
Program Application when they attend
New Volunteer Orientation.
Note: Weekend shifts for Junior Volunteers are
of limited availability, especially at our Adopt-A-Pet
Center. If you are seeking community service credit and
are only available on Saturday or Sunday, you might consider
supplementing your volunteer service with another group
in addition to Happy Tails in order to fulfill you school's
requirement. Currently, there is more need for services
at our PetSmart adoption site than are available at our
Adopt-A-Pet Center.
